Movers who know Washington

The District is rowhouse and brownstone country, with narrow Federal and Victorian homes on Capitol Hill, in Georgetown, and around Dupont, plus high-rise condos downtown. Parking is scarce and needs a permit, staircases are steep and narrow, and building COIs are common, all of which we handle up front.

  • Rowhouse-readyNarrow Capitol Hill and Georgetown staircases and third-floor walk-ups handled with care.
  • Permit-and-parkingWe pull the temporary no-parking permit so the truck sits right at your door.
  • High-rise savvyDupont and downtown condos, with the COI filed and elevator reserved.

We had a great experience with iMoversUSA. Tevan and Tony came on time and worked quickly. They were extremely efficient and friendly. I highly recommend them and will use iMoversUSA next time I need to do a big or small move.

Lawrence, Matthew, and Tim were fantastic! When I spoke with Lawrence, I told him about previous bad experiences with movers, and he assured me this would not happen with iMovers. They showed up right on time, took apart my furniture, reassembled it better than I ever could, and placed everything with special care. They even made moving kind of fun. I wish there were 10 stars to rate them, and their price was incredibly competitive.

Who shows up

Our trucks. Our movers. No subcontractors.

We never auction your move to a broker, hand it to day-labor, or leave it with someone you have not met. The people carrying your couch draw a paycheck from Daniel, and every truck out front belongs to us, lettered with our name, stocked, and maintained at our own Silver Spring shop.

Washington moving FAQs

Do you move within Washington, DC?

Yes, from a Capitol Hill rowhouse to a Dupont high-rise, at a written flat price. We pull the parking permit and handle building COIs, and we know the District's narrow streets.

How is the flat price kept firm?

We build the number from your actual belongings and how tough the access is, put it in writing, and stick to it. As long as what we move matches what you described, the move-day total is the same figure you signed off on.

Do stairs or a piano tack on a fee later?

No. Stairs, a long haul down a rowhouse block, a piano or a gun safe: every bit of it is in the price before the first carton moves, so the total never strays from what you signed.

Can you move in the DC summer humidity?

Every week of it. We start early when the heat allows, keep pieces shaded and out of the swelter, and load quickly so nothing sits out in the mugginess. Your window holds whether it is an August scorcher or a crisp fall morning.

Do you move pianos and gun safes?

Yes, and the cost is baked into your flat price already. The bulky, awkward pieces go on the proper board with the correct straps and padding, moved by people who have handled plenty of them.

Do you require a deposit?

A small refundable amount to reserve the crew and the date, and that is the whole of it. The rest is settled once the job is done, and the estimate never costs a thing.

After a written price you can plan the entire move around?

Your written flat rate is sent from the Silver Spring office, most often the same working day you reach out.
